Account deletion
You can delete your AskYourKid account and all personal data linked to it at any time. This app is operated by Kathos Intelligence Ltd.
Before you start
Please note: deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Your notes and favourites cannot be recovered afterwards.
1. Delete your account in the app (preferred)
- Open AskYourKid and sign in with the Google or Apple account you want to delete.
- Open your Account page.
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm in the pop-up.
Your account and all data linked to it are deleted immediately, and you are signed out.
2. Request deletion by email
If you can no longer sign in, for example because you lost access to your Google or Apple account or no longer have the app, email us at eugene@kathos-intelligence.com with the subject “Account Deletion Request”.
Please include:
- the email address linked to your account (for Sign in with Apple with a hidden email, the relay address ending in @privaterelay.appleid.com, if you know it);
- whether you signed in with Google or Apple;
- a clear request to delete your account.
We may ask for more information to confirm you own the account. We will delete it within 30 days of confirming your request and reply by email when it is done.
3. What is deleted
When you delete your account, we permanently delete all personal data linked to it, immediately:
- your account and sign-in record (email address, user ID). If you signed in with Apple on iPhone, we also ask Apple to revoke the app’s access to your Apple ID;
- your profile (email, child’s age band, language, time zone);
- your private conversation notes;
- your favourite cards, the cards you have seen, and the decks you unlocked by watching a video;
- your notification history. Your device is unlinked from your account, so it can no longer receive notifications meant for you.
4. What may remain
- Backups. Copies may remain in our automatic database backups until they expire, within 7 days. Backups are never restored or used for any other purpose.
- Advertising data held by Google. Google AdMob keeps advertising data under Google’s own policies. It is linked to your device’s advertising ID, not to your AskYourKid account. You can reset this ID in your device settings.
- Your Google or Apple sign-in link. If you signed in with Google, or with Apple on Android or the web, AskYourKid may still appear in your Google Account (Security → Third-party connections) or Apple ID settings (Sign in with Apple). It no longer gives access to any data, and you can remove it there.
- Anonymous statistics. We may keep aggregated statistics, such as total number of users, that cannot identify you.
Deleting the app is not enough
Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account. Use the steps above. For more about how we handle data, see our privacy policy.
